Notes is a private notebook for each person in the workspace. Write meeting notes, call prep or a to-do list with headings, checklists, code and links. Notes save as you type, and you can link one to the contact, deal or company it is about. Nobody else can read your notes, not even the workspace owner.
When you'd use it #
During a call
Press the shortcut, type what the customer said, and link it to them without leaving the inbox.
Before a meeting
Open the contact's Notes tab to read everything you wrote about them last time.
Your own to-do list
Keep a pinned checklist of today's work at the top of your notebook.
The notebook #
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Folders and pins | The left column holds your folders and pinned notes. Drag a note into a folder to file it, and pin the ones you open every day. |
| Search | The middle column lists your notes, newest first, with a search box that looks through titles and text. |
| The editor | Type # for a heading, - for a list and [] for a checklist. Type / for a menu that also inserts a link to a contact, deal or company. The word count and last edit time sit at the bottom. |
Quick capture from any page #
-
Open quick capture
Press Alt+N, or Option+N on a Mac, from any page, or click the round + button at the bottom right. You can also choose New note in the ⌘K search. On the Notes page itself, N starts a new note. -
Check the link
If you are on a contact, a deal or an inbox conversation, the note is already linked to that person or deal. Remove the link if the note is about something else. -
Write and close
The note saves as you type. It appears in your notebook, and on the Notes tab of the record it is linked to.
Deleting and restoring #
Deleting a note moves it to Trash, where you can restore it for 30 days. After that it is removed for good. Uninstalling the Notes app does not delete anyone's notes.
