Once a number is wired up, this is where it lives. The page lists every number your organization has connected, one card each, and every day-to-day action on a number happens from that card: check the token, copy the webhook details, change the display name, pick which number sends by default, or take a number out of the workspace. If you are connecting a number for the first time, start at Connect WhatsApp — that walkthrough covers where each credential comes from in Meta.
When you run more than one number #
A number per brand
Each brand or region gets its own WhatsApp Business number, with its own inbox threads and its own templates, inside one workspace.
Sales and support split
One number handles support conversations, another sends campaigns, so a broadcast never lands on the line customers use to ask for help.
Migrating to a new number
Connect the replacement number, make it the default sender, and keep the old one connected until its conversations wind down.
Two separate settings decide which number is used, and they are easy to confuse. The default account is a property of the organization: it is the number used when a send does not name one. The current account is a property of your session: it is the number selected in the account switcher in the header, and it changes only what you are looking at. If you have never touched the switcher, it falls back to the default account, and then to the first connected number.
Making a number the default clears the flag on every other number — there is exactly one default at a time. Switching the current account only affects you; your teammates keep whatever they had selected.
Checking that a token still works #
An access token is the credential Customer Pro uses to talk to Meta on your behalf. Tokens can be revoked in Meta, or expire if you generated one with a lifetime. When that happens, sends fail — so the card carries a token badge reading valid or expired.
Validate asks Meta about the stored token right now and writes the answer back to the badge. Nothing else changes. Run it when sends start failing, or after anyone touches the system user in Meta's Business Settings.
To replace a token, open Edit settings on the card and paste the new one into the access token field. Leaving that field blank keeps the existing token, so you can rename a number without disturbing its credential. A pasted token is checked with Meta on save: if Meta accepts it the number goes back to connected, and if Meta rejects it the number drops to pending and you are told so, rather than the badge quietly lying about a bad paste.
Rotating the webhook verify token #
Each connected number gets its own verify token, and it is only used once: Meta echoes it back during the webhook handshake to prove the callback URL belongs to you. The callback URL itself is the same for every number — routing is handled by the IDs inside each delivery, not by the URL.
Rotate replaces the verify token with a fresh random value. Rotate it if the old one leaked, or if you are not sure who has seen it.
The webhooks page covers outbound webhooks to your own systems, which are a different thing entirely.
What the card shows #
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Status | Whether Meta accepted this number's credentials. Connected means it is usable; pending means the last token was rejected. |
| Token | The result of the last validation — valid or expired. Press Validate to refresh it. |
| WABA ID | Identifies the WhatsApp Business Account that owns the number. Used for management calls such as template sync. |
| Phone number ID | Identifies this one number. Outbound messages are sent through it. It is a different value from the WABA ID. |
| Catalog ID | Read-only here. Link a catalog from the Products page instead. |
| Default | Marks the number used when a send does not name one. |
Who can change what #
Viewing the page, validating tokens, editing settings and setting the default are open to owners and admins. Connecting a new number and removing one are owner-only — an admin can operate the numbers you already have but cannot add or take away a line. Connecting is also counted against your plan's limit on WhatsApp accounts, so a new number can be refused when you are at the cap.
